I am an Award winning Photographer living in the Des Moines, Iowa area. I love Art of all types, and I have been a lifelong film photographer ever since I received my first Kodak Instamatic film camera for Christmas as a young person. I am a United States Army Veteran and I served during the Viet Nam War. I am a Graduate of the Des Moines Area Community College where I have studied photography.
I work with both Film and Digital images and I enjoy photographing barns, especially round barns, one room country school houses, still lifes, architecture, vintage aircraft, vintage cars and rural Iowa Farm scenes. As a Photographer, the most important part of my work is being able to create an impactful image that tells a story.
My work has been exhibited and I have won awards in the Iowa State Fair photography Salon. My work has also been displayed many times at The Polk County Heritage Gallery in Des Moines, Iowa. I received a First Place Award in The Silos And Smokestacks, Capture The Heart Of America 2019 photo contest for my image, Weathered.
There are many photographers that I admire and look to for inspiration, especially Irving Penn, Robert Capa, Vivian Maier, Saul Leiter and Harry Callahan. One of my greatest inspirations in my photography journey has been from my Photography Instructor and friend at The Des Moines Area Community College, Annick Sjobakken.
I hope you enjoy looking at my photographs.
